DVD Extras

All DVDs extra are rubbish its the quality of the production we buy it for?

What extras did anyone buy a DVD set for? What extras could anyone not live without?

That's an easy one - the Alien quadrilogy and Blade Runner DVDs have extras that go on forever - for quality and quantity they're the best I've come across so far.

I bought the Ultimate edition Casino Royale for the deleted scenes and extra documentaries that weren't on the 2 disc edition.

So did I, Hiram. Total rip off, but totally worth it.

As you're a Paradox Pilot at the moment Captain, that answer makes perfect sense !

I recently bought the Australian set of Danger Man, because it had additional extras to the UK set. I'd also buy the Australian UFO set for the same reason. Sometimes you wonder why some people bother releasing sets with commentaries as extras though - quite often the people interviewed can hardly remember a thing and are really dull to listen to. Ian Ogilvy's commentaries on The Return of The Saint are a welcome exception.

I love extras and at times they determine if I actually buy a series or movie. The Lord of the Rings extras are amazing and take hours to go through. I also like commentaries and wished that more Gerry Anderson episodes had commentaries. It would be great to have commentaries by the actors, effects and set designers as well as writers and so on for these shows. The highlight of the UFO DVDs was the Ed Bishop commentary. Gerry's commentaries are a little dry but if they added a couple of additional people with him it might be better.

Doctor Who DVDs usually do a great job with commentaries.

Yeah, looks like we'll be waiting a while for the QoS 3-Disc release (probably won't arrive until Bond 23 hits cinemas). I was lucky though, I got CR 3 disc the night before I went to see QoS in a VIP screening, so that was pretty cool. Loved the extra docs that showed the remains of the Vulcan from Thunderball and the unfinished hotel from TSWLM.

Still, until that comes around, there's always GoldenEye for the Wii and Bloodstone for PS3/XBox 360 to look forward too.

Star Wars.

I took the day off to watch the DVD's when they came out. The extras disk was stunning. I'm currently reading "The making Of The Empire Strikes Back" Interesting factiod... THUNDERBIRDS is one of george Lucas's favorite TV shows and influenced the employment of Brian Johnson...
