Watches tumbleweed blow across the screen.

All gone very quiet innit?

With the news that further episodes are delayed for now, it does feel as if this will definitely be the last series.

Judging by the quality of some of the episodes it's probably for the best.

Time to get out the old DVD's.

Despite the presence of the Chaos Crew this was quite a good episode because they were only used to a limited extent to create the reason for “emergency” in the first place – to some extent the same way the Hood was used to set up some of the stories in the original series.

Kip Harris was a good “guest character”. For those with a long memory there are some elements of “Red” Adair here – a real oil well fire expert who provided the basis for the John Wayne character in “Hellfiighters” (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellfighters_(film) for more info, I think it’s an entertaining film that could almost be a “live action” Thunderbirds even though it didn’t get good reviews at the time)

I’m not however sure the elements related to Grandma were really in character, and the “Virgil meets his hero” bit was a bit over done.

Overall a decent story, but the real issue I feel with this episode is that it was such an opportunity to use the “Firefly” and it didn’t happen; it also didn’t even re-use Virgil’s fireproof suit and “acoustic extinguisher” module from “Inferno” (presumbly because bringing it along would not have allowed for the TB-4 elements)

At the time of watching this it wasn’t clear it was the last episode for a while – and while not a “cliff hanger” to link into Series 3 Pt 2 it wasn’t a bad story to end on.
