Shame that Gerry doesn't seem to be mentioned as having any involvement in the new series.

I know he lost the rights to many of his shows decades ago, but if, as it seems, this project has been in the works for a little while now, I would have thought that HD Films and ITV Studios would have asked for his input. Perhaps by joining the forum and making ourselves heard on this matter might be one way of letting both companies aware of what we feel.

More importantly, maybe they can get Christopher Penfold and George Bellak involved...

Agreed. If this new version has any pretention about really basing itself on Space1999, it should have the philosophical element intact. That's one of the key elements that made the series what it was - the writing had a specific point of view. The eye candy (Eagles etc) was impressive but in terms of the identity of the series, secondary (only just!). Now, that pholosophical tone may not have been to the taste of the majority at the time or even now but that is the heart of the format. If the producers don't incude that, I wonder whether they should perhaps revive something else?

Just me being pessimistic!

This is the reason I got bored with Star Trek NG. They spent far too much time wandering around the Holodeck instead of searching out new planets and species. Basically it seemed like they were looking up their own backsides.

Getting back to the Space 2099 project though, I wonder if Larry Dart, Slim and Husky might make an appearance seeing as they were pretty important people a year later.

Default Starship ASIMOV

Is the ASIMOV on the poster Commander Koenig's flag ship? Or is the ASIMOV the new Meta ship? Is the new Eagle design the final design?
Do the producers want to use "shake cameras" like in BATTLESTAR GALACTICA? I hate "shake cameras"!!!
