Default What Did You Learn At The Con?

What did you learn at the Con that you did not know before?

For me it was that the Secret Service car goes in the garage forwards and comes out forwards - how does it turn round? Oh and the windows on the TB2 hangar are very different between film and the tv series. And the helicopter for Pit of Peril was mostly a green toy tin helicopter with the front cut off (Mike Delamar showed me one under the model table)

What a properly weighted puppet with shoulder strings could really do - there was an audible gasp when John Blundall demonstrated it in his talk. I also learned a lot about what he thought of others' puppet faces and the decision to make casts of the puppet bodies which he'd worked to get properly weighted... very interesting man!

Sylvia and Matt had planned that Jeffs wife "Lucy" had Died giving birth to Alan as opposed to the Avalanche as reported in the comics.

I discovered I should have been to conventions before now, didn't realise what I've been missing!

The most obvious was the garage and its invisible turntable in Secret Service, how many times have we seen that and missed it.

Finding out just how much Derek Meddings loved to blow things up.

How it feels to hold a puppet, that Matt Zimmerman is hilarious, just how badly New Captain Scarlet was treated, and that Barry Gray really was a genius.

Loads more as well.

How Sky 1 was launched, how big Moonbase was, why Skydiver never got wet, how UFOs were able to spin, and that Alan Shulbrook is very very entertaining!

That's interesting Chrisof, I have a letter from Sylvia Anderson from 1989 where she answered a few queries.
For the one about Jeff's wife: she died in an unfortunate accident.
I did not ask her name since I was confident she was not named in the series or indeed until Alan Fennell named her in the 1990's Thunderbirds comic.
