Default Comparisons.

Hello all.
I haven't been very active on the forum lately. Last September I was invited to join some Anderson Facebook groups. I was not a Facebook user, so I had to create an account to do so. Since then I have immersed myself in the Facebook side of Anderson so I could make a valid comparison. All I can say is neither has the edge over the other. Both this forum and the Facebook groups are equally enjoyable places to be, and I shall now consider my comparison period at an end and divide my time between both equally. There is plenty of magic on this forum, suchbas Silent Bobs fantastic drawings, that I can find no evidence of over at Facebook, and plenty of magic over at Facebook such as designs by Richard Knight that I can find no evidence of here, so both are very worthy places to be. I avoided Facebook because of it's bad reputation, and would never have joined if someone I respected had not invited me, and all I can say is I have found my involvement there nothing but pleasurable and I recommend joining to anyone, who like me, intentionally stays away. As far as Anderson goes, it is a very worthy extension of this forum with new people to meet, and fellow forum members there as well.
Well people it has been enjiyable, but four months away from here was too much to bare. I cannot wait to immerse myself in the forum again. But do check Facebook Anderson out, even if it is only as an observer. It's worth it.
I would say I'm glad to be back, but I haven't really been away. Just carrying out a comparison test.

I spent some time with a Facebook account (because of Fanderson) but I can't honestly say it appealed to me. What I can say is, despite some stuff not available elsewhere, since I closed my account I don't miss it at all. In fact I was glad to be rid of it.

While I never used my account for personal stuff I'm mindful that these days employers check staff accounts and in some cases I've heard they've even asked for passwords. I think anyone who posts personal details might want to consider this.

Heheh. Perhaps I'm just old... Friending people and all the rest of that guff....no thanks.

To each their own. A person can be neither right nor wrong with this. It's all about what the individual wants or doesn't want. I am still very much a Facebook new boy, and may yet have a time in front of me where it will lose it's charm. Time will tell. For now though I'm glad to be there as well as here.

I can see the appeal of Facebook and the many GA related groups. There has been some great visual content on ones I have seen but to be honest I still think it is the one of the worlds greatest time wasters. If you find anything on a Facebook group that matches the fan driven New Captain Scarlet episode guides and the Secret Service guides below - please let me know.

If anyone would like to pick one of the lesser known GA shows to do something similar with - I am prepared to discuss and organise the Forum area.

Don't suppose anyone is going to challenge my claim (out of desire to forget it ever happened or lack of interest) to do a full retrospect on Turbocharged Thunderbirds, right?
It's something of a New Years Resolution to acquire and watch all 13 episodes, and I've made good progress with 7, but still about half the series off. Anyone with watchable copies of any episode willing to contribute is super-appreciated.

I fail to see the point to Facebook. I have no interest in plastering my private thoughts all over the internet, and I find it insulting when organisations (not Fanderson) insist that I use Facebook to get the most out of their "product".

I note that this forum has become a lot quieter since the Facebook page was started.

I noticed that too. That's why I accepted the invitiation to join, so I could see if it had anything to do with this forum getting a bit less active. I saw no evidence suggesting any connection as many people posting there do not post here. Facebook opened my eyes to a wider world of Anderson based interests. Great artwork and model making not shown here, great fan fiction not shown here. People posting photos of their memorabilia. I can't say I saw much evidence of people sharing their inermost private feelings, but then I wasn't looking for that sort of thing. I was there purely to see what Anderson groups were there. I have to say, it is a very entertaining extension of this forum, and from what I could determine perfectly harmless. True Facebook has a bad reputation, but that's down to people exercising a lack of self control and misusing and abusing their public platform. The site itself looks harmless, and can only ne a time waster if the user allows it to be. I found valuable sourcee of enjoyment in the Anderson groups, but I never bothered looking anywhere else. Just Anderson.

From memory, Fanderson's Facebook page was created before the Forum. Even earlier there was the Yahoo address which is still occasionally active. Once the Forum was created I didn't see any need to continue with Facebook.

Both have their positive atributes. This forum is unmatchable with the depth you can go into the subjects, and the amount we can learn. But the Facebook groups offer specialist variety not found here.I like both.
