Launching on Friday 23rd February, the limited edition figurine of Turata from Centrallius is the latest addition to Robert Harrop’s Supermarionation Collection.

From the Stingray episode ‘Deep Heat’, Turata is a character of unmistakeable style yet one with questionable motives as he attempts to lure Troy and Phones to a fiery demise.

Traditionally hand sculpted by Mike Rogers and made in the UK by Robert Harrop Designs Ltd, each figurine has been individually hand finished and hand painted.

A strict limited edition of 150 figurines worldwide, each Turata figurine will be individually numbered and will include a Certificate of Authenticity to support its provenance.

Packaged in a presentation box and information card, Turata is available for £60 at www.robertharrop.com or by calling 01952 884804.

BritSciFi3 to pay tribute to Gerry Anderson

Britscifi3 will pay tribute to Thunderbirds creator Gerry AndersonThis year’s BritSciFi event will celebrate the life and work of Gerry Anderson.

The event will take place at the National Space Centre in Leicester over the weekend of the 9th and 10th of March, and a central feature will be ‘Anderson Alley’ – an area dedicated to the genius behind Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Space:1999.

Malika Andress of the National Space Centre said: “With the sad news in January that our hero and friend, Gerry Anderson, passed away, this event will be dedicated to him and his amazing legacy.”

Thanks to the help of private collectors, prop builders and fans, BritSciFi3 will allow visitors to:

  • Meet Parker, Penelope and the Angels close up
  • Blast off with their favourite Thunderbird
  • See Stingray, Fireball XL5 and FAB1
  • Explore a full-sized recreation of the Moonbase Control Centre from Space:1999

In memory of Gerry, funds will be raised for the Alzheimer’s Society during the event. Gerry’s son Jamie Anderson will be attending throughout the weekend and will host  a panel discussion featuring a number of colleagues of Gerry’s on Saturday 9th.

Robert Harrop - Santa Phones from StingrayThe winner of our special Robert Harrop competition can now be revealed!

Long-standing member Martin Ackroyd from Manchester is now the proud owner of a beautiful ceramic resin figurine of Phones, in full Santa outfit, from a classic Stingray episode.

The question was:

What kind of dressing is prepared for the meal in A Christmas To Remember?

The answer is, of course, chestnut stuffing.

Well done Martin, Christmas comes late for you! Watch this web space and FAB for further competitions coming up…

A Christmas to Remember…

FAB 73

FAB 73Issue 73 of FAB, Fanderson’s flagship club magazine, was mailed to members last week.

Within these pages, we take a whistle stop tour of Joe 90 and examine everything from the music, to the influence of Mike Trim and the incredible, or at least indelible, jokes of Sam Loover. Stephen Baxter continues his potted history of the Fleetway publications of the 1990s with a look at the Stingray comic that coincided with the revival of the show on BBC2. Stingray fans can rejoice even further with this issue’s Midas Touch feature, in which Jordan Drakes reminisces about his fascination with a classic mini-album adventure.

But if you think this issue is only about Gerry Anderson’s Supermarionation productions, then think again! We’ve also got the first part of a special feature on Thunderbirds: 2068, the largely forgotten and rather tenuous Japanese cell animation reboot of the puppet series, plus retrospectives on the classic New Captain Scarlet episode Rat Trap and the last part of the Moonbase Alpha Personnel files.

FAB is available exclusively to Fanderson members, and joining is easy!

As well as receiving FAB, an annual membership gives you access to an exclusive range of merchandise that you won’t find in any high street shop or online retailer, plus reduced rates on Fanderson events and full access to the Fanderson forum.
