Expressions of interest invited in selected Space Precinct archive materials
In 1998, Mentorn invited Fanderson to retrieve Space Precinct models, props, costumes etc from a storage facility in south Wales, on the understanding that Mentorn could recall them should a second series go into production. The materials retrieved were in varying conditions, but the best have been displayed at various club conventions and events over the years.
We have recently received permission from Mentorn’s parent company to pass some of the models on to organisations (such as museums) or individuals who have the skills to restore them so that they may be displayed and enjoyed by fans. Proceeds from sales (once expenses have been deducted) will go to charity.
Fanderson is inviting club members for ‘expressions of interest’ in any or all of the items detailed below. The closing date for initial applications is 29th February 2024. Applications should be sent in writing to fanderson.org.uk@outlook.com, including (but not be limited to):
- your full name
- your address
- your phone number
- your position, if representing a museum or similar organisation
- any relevant experience in model restoration or similar
- your offer (in £GBP) for each item you’re interested in
- any other relevant information which might help us make a decision in the case of competing interests
Click here for a PDF version of this page, including alternative photos of selected items.
We expect to review all applications in March, with successful applicants confirmed by the end of the month. Successful applicants will be required to sign a document confirming that they will:
- advise Fanderson of all organised displays that the items are to be included in, so that we might publicise said event(s)
- endeavour to make items available for display at any club-organised events (on request)
This is an unique opportunity for modelmakers and Space Precinct fans to own and restore a piece of Gerry Anderson history.
