Brian Johnson to attend Supercelebration

Brian Johnson at Fanderson's Special Assignment conventionWe are very happy to announce that special effects wizard Brian Johnson will be coming to Supercelebration in September!

All fans will be familiar with Brian’s work on Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds, as well as his most iconic Anderson creation, the Eagle Transporter from Space:1999. However, he has also contributed to many famous film productions, including 2001: A Space Odyssey,  Alien, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The latter two earned him much-deserved Oscar wins. Brian becomes our tenth confirmed guest, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to talk about his work in Maidenhead – and answer all your questions!

Richard Gregory has died

Fanderson are saddened to hear of the death of special effects master Richard Gregory.

Known to Anderson fans for his work on Terrahawks and Space Precinct, Gregory established himself as an animatronics designer on the Walking with Dinosaurs series in the early 2000s, before working on a series of Hollywood blockbusters, including a a trio of Daniel Craig Bond films, The Dark Knight  and Disney’s John Carter.

He will be sadly missed. A full tribute will appear in the next issue of FAB magazine.

Terry Adlam to appear at Supercelebration

Comedy writer Terry AdlamFanderson is delighted to announce that comedy writer Terry Adlam has agreed to attend Supercelebration in September.

Terry first worked for Gerry Anderson when he joined the visual effects team on Terrahawks, before going on to create, write and direct the stop-motion Dick Spanner series, narrated by Shane Rimmer (another name on our glittering guest lineup!).

Terry loves coming to Fanderson events to speak about his work with fans and has attended our last three conventions. As you’d expect from a comedy writer, he’s a very funny guy, (Mike Burrows has captured a rare serious shot of him here!). We’re looking forward to welcoming him to the stage once again to discuss Gerry Anderson’s revival in the 1980s.

Mary Turner to appear at Supercelebration

We are excited to announce that puppeteer, puppet designer and convention favourite Mary Turner will be appearing at Supercelebration in September!

Mary worked on every puppet series from Supercar through to The Secret Service, and was responsible for sculpting Supermarionation stars such as Steve Zodiac, Troy Tempest, Captain Scarlet and Lady Penelope. Mary has been a great supporter of Fanderson events over the years, and attended Special Assignment in 2017, where she appeared on stage alongside Judy Preece (pictured, right).

Make sure you give her a warm welcome in Maidenhead, along with all of our other very special guests!

Paul Weston to appear at Supercelebration

Paul’s prolific career in the film industry stretches back to the late 1960s and includes stints on Space:1999 and The Protectors, as well as many of the Bond films. Paul was hugely entertaining when he attended his first Fanderson convention in 2017, and we’re really looking forward to seeing him on stage in September, as part of our ever-growing guest list.

Liz Morgan signs up for Supercelebration

We are pleased to announce that Liz Morgan has agreed to attend our Supercelebration convention in September!

Liz is fondly remembered by fans for voicing Liz regular characters Destiny and Rhapsody Angel in Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. She attended our last convention, Special Assignment, in 2017, where she helped us celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show, appearing in two guest interview panels alongside Matt Zimmerman, David Graham, Wayne Forrester and Shane Rimmer (also confirmed).

Mark Woollard to attend Supercelebration

We are happy to announce that director and special effects artist Mark Woollard will be attending Supercelebration in September.

Mark directed some of New Captain Scarlet’s most memorable episodes, including Storm at the End of the World and Touch of the Reaper, and has also worked on films such as The Avengers, The World is Not Enough and Star Wars Episode VIII.

Fans can expect more exciting guest announcements in the coming days!

Penny Spencer to appear at Supercelebration

We are delighted to announce that UFO star Penny Spencer will be appearing at Supercelebration in September.

Penny entertained fans at Special Assignment in 2017 with stories of life at SHADO HQ, where she appeared alongside fellow actress Georgina Moon. She played an unnamed SHADO control operative, but is best remembered for her role as schoolgirl Sharon Eversleigh in the LWT comedy series, Please Sir!

Graham Bleathman signs up for Supercelebration

Artist Graham Bleathman has become the latest luminary from the Anderson universe to confirm their attendance at Supercelebration later this year.

Loved by fans for his amazing cutaway illustrations of Anderson craft and buildings, Graham has been a regular contributor to FAB magazine and special guest at past conventions. At Special Assignment in 2017 he appeared alongside the late Mike Noble to talk about their work illustrating TV21 and the 1990s Fleetway Thunderbirds Comic. If you ask him nicely he may draw you a pen and ink sketch of your favourite Anderson vehicle!

Artist Mike Trim to attend Supercelebration

Mike TrimMike Trim has been confirmed as a special guest at Supercelebration in September.

Mike started his association with Gerry and Sylvia Anderson as a modelmaker and designer in the final days of Stingray. He then went on to work on Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Joe 90, The Secret Service, and UFO, as well as the Thunderbirds and Doppelganger feature films.

Last week Shane and Sheila Rimmer became the first guests to confirm their attendance.
