[UK] Thunderbirds on TPTV again!

UPDATED 29/10/24

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s 1964 series Thunderbirds is returning to Talking Pictures TV (in the UK).

Sunday, 22nd September at 12:20 Trapped In The Sky will be back on our screens again.

Thankfully, this is not a one-off screening as with Terror In New York City recently, as it’s followed by:

  • 3rd November 30 Minutes After Noon
  • 10th November Desperate Intruder
  • 17th November End Of The Road
  • 24th November The Uninvited
  • 1st December Sun Probe

Of course, it still seems rather odd to start again from the beginning rather than TPTV continuing (and finishing) their premiere broadcasts from earlier this year.

TPTV are also giving Thunderbirds 5am screenings:

  • 31st October Terror In New York City
  • 7th November Edge Of Impact
  • 14th November Day Of Disaster
  • 21st November 30 Minutes After Noon
  • 28th November Desperate Intruder

Talking Pictures TV is available in the UK on Freeview/Youview 82, Freesat 306, Sky channel 328 and Virgin 445, with a streaming service at www.tptvencore.co.uk

2025 charity nominations needed!

Fanderson members can be rightly proud of the charitable donations we’ve made to charities over the years. You’ve dug deep and given thousands of Pounds to those less fortunate or in need of help. We reckon it’s already over £60,000 donated. Thank you!

Now you can help us choose who our charity for 2025 will be.

Over the club’s 43 years we’ve supported a variety of good causes, including Actors’ Benevolent Fund, Alzheimers Society, Baby Lifeline, Children In Need, Diabetes UK, The Film And TV Charity, Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, Macmillan Cancer Support, Orchid, Silverline, Terrence Higgins Trust, Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal and many more.

Now you can nominate a good cause that you think the club should support for the coming year. Just email us at fanderson.org.uk@outlook.com, telling us the following:

  • your full name
  • your Fanderson membership number
  • your postcode
  • the charity you’re nominating
  • in a few words, explain why you’re nominating them (we won’t share any personal details)
  • the charity’s website address

Nominations close on Friday 25th October.

In November, Fanderson members will be invited to vote for their preferred charity from the nominations, then our first fundraising event for the chosen charity will be this year’s online advent calendar.

Thanks for your generosity at London:1999

Fanderson was celebrating Space:1999’s 50th anniversary with fans at the London:1999 convention in September.

In a room full of original and replica models and costumes, the jaw-dropping centrepiece was Darrell Simmonds’ Eagle 6 cockpit replica!

An amazing roll-call of guests were available for talks, interviews or casual chats throughout the weekend:

  • Anton Phillips (Dr Bob Mathias),

  • Brian Johnson (special effects),
  • Carla Romanelli (Melita Janni, Space Brain),

  • Catherine Schell (Maya),

  • Clifton Jones (David Kano, seen here with Suzanne Peterson),
  • Eddie Stacey (stuntman),

  • Suzanne Peterson (Barbara Bain’s stand-in)

  • Yasuko Nagazumi (Yasko).

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s daughter Dee Anderson and journalist/writer/broadcaster and Space:1999 fan Samira Ahmed rounded off the weekend’s guests.

Fanderson’s Mel Rowlands and Nick Williams were on-hand to talk with fans and spread the word about Fanderson, and we launched two great new pieces of exclusive club merchandise at the event:

  • Hot on the heels of our soundtrack to the Super Space Theater Alien Attack compilation film, delegates at London:1999 were the first to buy the Destination Moonbase Alpha soundtrack CD!
  • The club also righted a five-decade-long wrong by producing a sweet cigarette card set from Space:1999’s second series!

Both of these items are available to buy from Fanderson Sales now!

We’re proud to announce that Fanderson made a contribution of £220 (our contribution from sales over the weekend) to the two London:1999 convention charities – Great Ormond Street Hospital and Alzheimer’s Research Centre.

This is just the club’s contribution from sales over the weekend, whilst the total amount raised at the convention from auctions etc will be announced in due course.
