Celebrate 50 years of UFO!

What better way to celebrate 50 years of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s groundbreaking series UFO than with a great read – the long-awaited UFO Annual 1972!

Like most Anderson series there was a UFO Annual produced to accompany the broadcasts, but just the one volume for 1971. Exclusive to Fanderson is this follow-up book, full of features about the series and SHADO, two brand new stories starring your favourite UFO characters and three new exclusive cutaways.

Whilst reading the Annual, why not relax with Barry Gray’s cool soundtrack, courtesy of our 4-CD boxset. And we’ve got lots of other UFO items in the Shop too!

We’re expecting stock of the UFO Annual 1972 in time for the series’ 50th anniversary on 16th September 2020, and you can sure to be among the first to get your copy by pre-ordering from 1st September.

That’s not Captain Scarlet. That’s Thunderbirds!

We honestly thought we’d sold our last copy of the 4CD Thunderbirds soundtrack boxset at our Supercelebration convention last year.

So, you can imagine Fanderson Sales’ supremo Stephen Brown’s surprise when, during a bit of lockdown housekeeping at our secure storage unit, he found that a box marked Captain Scarlet CDs actually had Thunderbirds inside! This find means that just 40 lucky club members who were unable to get the album before will now get another chance!

To give anyone who’s interested the chance to hear this great news and count their shekels beforehand, we’ll set them live in the Fanderson Shop on Saturday. Prices will be £39.75 UK, £43.50 Europe, £45.75 rest of the world.

Orders will be restricted to just one copy per member.

We can’t give an exact time, but it will around lunchtime in the UK. And this time, when they’re gone, they’re gone. Honest!

The UFOs are landing!

Fanderson members are reporting sightings of UFOs. That is, the club’s new 4-CD UFO soundtrack album, which is now being delivered to members!

We started taking pre-orders for the set from 1st March and, in under a month, 25% of our stock has already been bought. Like all club merchandise, the UFO soundtrack is a limited edition so when it’s gone, it’s gone!

We regularly get emails from members saying “I wish I’d bought your Space:1999 Year One or Thunderbirds soundtrack or “I wish I’d met Gerry or Sylvia Anderson at one of your conventions”, but now it’s too late. Don’t be one of those ‘I wish…’ people and chance missing out on the UFO soundtrack – buy yours today!

Please note that in the current situation we’re dispatching orders as postal services are still operating, though it may take longer than usual for your package to arrive.

UFO soundtrack – pre-order now open (with March offer)

Fanderson is delighted to announce that its latest soundtrack is now available to pre-order.

The new 4-disc set of music from UFO is the most extensive from this series that the club has produced.

To celebrate, our March offer of the month is 25% off the Ed Bishop: Identified audio archive disc, if you buy in the same transaction as the UFO soundtrack and use coupon code UFO50 at checkout. You can only use the coupon once, the offer is only valid whilst stocks last (we therefore reserve the right to end the offer before 31st March) and no substitutions/alternatives are available.

We’re expecting deliveries of UFO by 1st April, and your Ed Bishop disc with be mailed together with the soundtrack.

As with all Fanderson merchandise, the UFO soundtrack has been produced by fans, for fans. It’s a strictly limited edition.

If you’re not already a club member, join up now to buy and enjoy some of Barry Gray’s finest.

Thunderbirds Aren’t (Le)Go!

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Thunderbirds will be go in Lego form, at least not any time soon!

You may remember that last May Fanderson members rallied to get Andrew Clark’s Thunderbirds Are Go Lego Ideas project over the 10,000 supporter line. This qualified it to be part of Lego’s official project review, and the results were announced live on Facebook today.

Eleven projects were considered in this review:

  • Thunderbirds Are Go by AndrewClark2 (click on ‘Updates’ on the page to see the Thunderbirds version)

plus Medieval Blacksmith by Namirob and Winnie the Pooh by benlouisa which will go forward to become official Lego sets.

Check out the Lego Ideas site for more amazing Anderson-inspired designs.

Dinky Toys website – new in Links

Dinky Toys remain some of the most memory-jogging and collectible merchandise produced in connection with the Anderson productions.

For anyone who wants to reminisce, or even for some research into the variations available, check out dinkytvspace.com (you can also find this in Resources > Links).

Site owner Kevin O’Neil says:

“The site has been up and running for about two years but has been at least five more years in the making. I had started collecting Gerry Anderson themed Dinkys in the nineties, having been a fan of the various TV series from my childhood. The first model I bought was a pretty battered 104 Spectrum Patrol Vehicle and various others followed over the years, generally in less than tip top condition. Then about ten years ago I decided to collect a full set of the GA TV show models in good to mint condition with boxes and it was then I realised that there were lots of variations and instead of 20 odd models there were going to be lots more. The bug had got hold, I couldn’t shake it and the bank account took a major hit!

“The 353 Shados were the first set I pulled together, but it was hard to source accurate information about how many versions and variants there were. Added to the fact that this genre of models were not really supported or even liked by many of the Collector’s clubs that existed. So I started cataloging what I could find with the intention of perhaps releasing a book at some distant time in the future, however,  it became clear that everytime I finished a ‘chapter’ it was out of date because some new information had come to light.

“I was often researching by looking at websites like the Eagle Transporter forums, Laurent Classe’s Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds sites and many others and it became clear that the best way to catalogue my collection was to create dinkytvspace.com  which I could then update easily as new information came in. And when the site went live at the end of 2017, new facts and images did arrive. I was delighted to discover that there are some really knowledgable collectors of this genre out there who are happy to share their data and advice and the site has grown from there. I did widen the remit from just Gerry Anderson models to all TV, Space and Specials because I felt that they were part of the same Dinky story and ethos that brought a lot of happiness to the boys and girls of the 60s and 70s and a few adults as well!

If Fanderson members can provide new information and/or images or point out any errors or inaccuracies please contact me on dcmtvspace@virginmedia.com or via comments on the site itself.”
