USA: New postage rates

Club members in the USA will notice that we are introducing a new price band for our products and services especially for them.

For many years the postage cost differences between the USA and other destinations outside Europe has been negligible, so we have had a ‘rest of the world’ price band that includes them alongside Canada, Japan, Oceania and other territories. Unfortunately, postage to the USA has risen sharply recently, to the extent that in many cases it is now more expensive to mail from the UK to the USA than it is to mail to Australia!

The Fanderson Sales leaflet mailed with FAB 100 details all the new prices.

It will take a short while to add the new option to all of our products in the Shop. If you’re in the USA and we haven’t yet added the US price to an item you want to buy, please select the RW (rest of the world) option for that item.

40 FAB Years: Are you a survey winner?

Throughout August we ran a membership survey, both to celebrate some of the great things we’ve achieved over our first 40 FAB years, but also to get members’ input to the future of their club.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and we’re starting to go through the results now. As an incentive to take part, all valid entries went into a draw to win one of these fantastic prizes, and we can now confirm the lucky winners:

  • Japanese Thunderbirds Visual Archives book – hard to get outside of Japan – won by Sean Fox
  • UFO Screenplays book – a long out-of-print Fanderson book from 2001 – won by Darren Allen
  • Earthfall – our 2002 reprint of EC Tubb’s 1977 Space:1999 novel – won by Kenneth Stuart
  • Century 21 Diary – our membership gift from 2008 – won by David Green

Prizes will be mailed over the next few days, so keep an eye out for the postman!

40 FAB Years: Extra free gift for new members!

As a celebratory free gift to new members in August – our 40th anniversary month – we’ll include a copy of either Journey To The Moon or Great Themes From Thunderbirds mini album on CD (as stocks last) in their membership package.

Join Fanderson now to get this great free offer! And don’t forget we’ve got some great anniversary merchandise offers right now too!

On 20th August 1981, Fanderson was formed at Pinewood Studios under the provisional name of ‘Anderclan’. Gerry Anderson and ITC had called a meeting with representatives from the various clubs, publications and the Fanderson 81 convention in the hope that they could all come together as a unified club. Our status as Sylvia Anderson’s official fan club was bestowed posthumously by her family in 2016. You can read more here.

Terms and conditions (in addition to our standard Ts&Cs):

  • Either of the mini albums will be inserted to new membership packages throughout August 2021, at random, and as stocks last.
  • This offer is only applicable to new Fanderson members (including former members that are no longer on our database, due to our GDPR privacy notice, who are rejoining the club). The discs were previously given as part of the 2008 and 2013 Fanderson membership packages respectively.
  • As an extra free gift these do not form a contractual part of the membership package, and Fanderson is under no obligation to provide an alternative gift once stock of these mini albums is exhausted.
  • Please don’t ask if you can buy either of these mini album replicas from us. Due to our licensing agreement, we cannot sell them. We can only give them away.

Virtual AGM – 27th March 2021

Fanderson’s 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) is today.

You can hear the facts and figures right now in a special podcast, in which host Ros Connors is joined by Fanderson chairman Nick Williams and designer/FAB co-editor Mike Jones to also get answers to members’ questions.

The club committee will also be available live on the Fanderson Forum today 12:00-13:00 UK time to answer any further questions.

Virtual Annual General Meeting 2021

Fanderson’s Annual General Meeting is a chance for the committee to report on the club’s status and respond to members’ questions, thoughts and suggestions.

Fanderson’s next Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Saturday 27th March 2021. Once again, due to the ongoing pandemic and to give as many members as possible the opportunity to be involved, the 2021 AGM will be held virtually.

The deadline for any questions or proposals is Sunday 31st January 2021. Please check our Constitution for the criteria by which proposals should be submitted for member voting.

This year the club committee will be responding to as many members’ questions as possible in a special Fanderson podcast, and members are encouraged to record their questions for that:

  • Send your name, postcode/zipcode, club membership number and email address to no later than Sunday 31st January 2021.
  • Podcast host Ros Connors will contact you after 31st January to arrange a convenient time to record your question(s)
  • Your question(s) will be answered by a committee member as part of the special AGM podcast

If you don’t want to record your question for the podcast, you can still write in to no later than Sunday 31st January 2021, and a committee member will respond as part of the special AGM podcast. Just remember to include your name, postcode/zipcode, club membership number and email address with your question.

Voting on any matters raised that require a vote by the membership will be open early in March, to enable results to be presented as part of the AGM.

Details of the AGM itself will be confirmed nearer the date.

The Secret Service Close-Up to be reprinted

We’d like to apologise to club members that this year’s membership item – The Secret Service Close-Up book – does not meet our usual high production standards.

The book will be re-printed and re-issued to all members with FAB 94, later this year. We’ll continue to mail the existing stock to new members until new stock is available.

Fanderson cuts membership cost with postage savings

We are delighted to announce that membership costs have been reduced for all UK, European and Rest of the World residents with immediate effect.

Whilst our annual review of costs shows that we need to keep our £22 membership fee for another year (which it’s been since 2013) this year we can pass on the savings that we’ve made through postage and packing for FAB.

We are proud of our commitment to control costs for our members and will continue to pass on savings wherever possible.

New Membership costs

UK residents
£28.00 (£22.00 + £6.00 postage) – down from £29.00

European Residents
£35.00 (£22.00 + £13.00 postage) – down from £36.00

Rest of the world residents
£41.00 (£22.00 + £19.00 postage) – down from £43.00
